Wimbledon covers a lot of ground, from the large period houses of Wimbledon Village down through the town centre's flats and mansion blocks to the denser Victorian terraces of South Wimbledon. In the Village, we're often working on larger, older properties with more complex heating systems and sometimes multiple zones or older cylinders. In the town centre, it's more commonly flats and conversions needing combi boiler repairs or servicing, often with lift access or restricted parking to plan around near the Broadway and Centre Court. South Wimbledon's terraces are typically Victorian, with narrower pipe runs and, in some cases, original drainage that needs careful handling.

Town-centre flats and mansion blocks are usually on combi boilers, and access can be tighter than in a house — something we plan for on the job.
Many of these buildings have shared risers, communal boiler cupboards or balanced flues on outside walls, and we're used to coordinating with managing agents where a job affects more than one flat.

Plumbing in South Wimbledon's terraces
Victorian terraces around South Wimbledon and towards Haydons Road often still have some original lead or iron pipework mixed in with later copper or plastic, and matching new work to what's already there takes a bit more care than a straightforward job in a newer house.

Drainage
Blocked drains in the older terraces of South Wimbledon are a regular call-out, often linked to root ingress from street trees or ageing clay pipework that's shifted slightly over more than a century in the ground.
Where a property shares a drain run with a neighbour, which is common in these terraces, we'll try to establish whose section is affected before recommending any work, since that can change who's responsible for it.
Gas safety certificates
With a large private rented market across Wimbledon, landlord gas safety certificates are one of our most requested services here, particularly for flats let out near the town centre and shared houses further south.
A certificate costs £99 and covers the appliances specified as part of the visit; if a fault is found we'll explain it clearly before any further work goes ahead.
Unvented cylinders and hot water pressure
Some of the larger Village properties and newer developments near the town centre have unvented hot water cylinders rather than a traditional tank in the loft, and these need a Gas Safe or suitably qualified engineer to service and repair them correctly.
If your hot water pressure has dropped, or the cylinder is making unusual noises, it's worth getting it looked at rather than waiting, since a fault left unchecked can affect the safety valve.
