Sometimes a tap has reached the point where repair no longer makes sense, whether because the body is damaged, the finish has worn away, or you simply want to update the look of a kitchen or bathroom. We fit replacement taps across Cheam and Sutton, whether you have already bought a tap you like or want advice on choosing one.

Fitting a new tap involves more than just connecting it to the existing pipework. Older properties in particular can have supply pipe spacing or connector types that do not match modern taps exactly, so an engineer will check compatibility before starting.

We can fit taps you have purchased yourself, or discuss suitable options if you would rather we source one.

When replacement makes more sense than repair

  • The tap body is cracked, corroded or physically damaged
  • Replacement parts are no longer available for an old model
  • You are updating the kitchen or bathroom and want a different style
  • The tap has failed more than once despite previous repairs

What is involved in fitting a new tap

An engineer will isolate the water supply, remove the old tap, check the condition of the flexible tails and isolation valves, and fit the new tap ensuring it is properly sealed and secure. Where the sink or basin has different tap hole spacing, adaptors or a different tap style may be needed.

Flexible tails and isolation valves

These are often replaced at the same time as a tap since they can perish or seize over the years, and doing so avoids a second job later.

If you are supplying your own tap

It helps to check the tap hole configuration on your sink or basin (single hole, two hole, or three hole) before buying, and to confirm whether it needs a hot and cold feed or a single mixed feed, since not all taps suit all sinks.

How charging works

Tap replacement is charged by time at our standard hourly rate, plus the cost of the tap if we are supplying it and any fittings such as new flexible tails. See /our-rates for current hourly rates.

Tap Replacement — common questions

Can you fit a tap I have already bought?

Yes, we regularly fit customer-supplied taps. It is worth checking the tap hole spacing and connection type matches your sink or basin first.

Do you replace flexible tails and isolation valves too?

We can, and it is often sensible to do so at the same time since they are usually of a similar age to the tap being replaced.

How long does it take to replace a tap?

A straightforward replacement typically takes under an hour, though access under the sink and the condition of existing pipework can affect this.

Can you replace a bath tap or shower mixer?

Yes, we fit bath taps and shower mixers as well as kitchen and basin taps.

What if the new tap does not fit the existing pipework?

The engineer will identify this before removing the old tap where possible, and can advise on adaptors or an alternative tap if needed.
