Not every plumbing job is an emergency or a specific repair; sometimes you just need a competent plumber for general work, whether that is fitting a new appliance, altering pipework, or carrying out maintenance before a problem develops. We take on general plumbing work across Cheam and Sutton for both homeowners and landlords.
This can include things like connecting a washing machine or dishwasher, fitting an outside tap, altering pipework for a kitchen or bathroom refit, or checking over a property's plumbing before a sale or new tenancy. If your job does not neatly fit one of our other service pages, it likely falls under general plumbing.
Get in touch with a description of what you need and we can advise whether it is something we can quote for over the phone or whether it needs a visit first.
Examples of general plumbing work
- Connecting washing machines, dishwashers and other appliances
- Fitting outside taps and garden supplies
- Altering or extending pipework for a kitchen or bathroom refit
- Fitting or replacing waste pipes and traps
- Pre-purchase or pre-tenancy plumbing checks
What we consider before quoting
For general plumbing work, an engineer needs to understand what you are trying to achieve, the existing pipework and layout, and whether any other trades will be involved, such as tiling or electrical work around a new appliance.
What helps us quote accurately
Photos of the area, details of any appliance you are fitting (including its water connection type), and a rough idea of timescale all help us give you a more accurate idea of what is involved before we visit.
How charging works
General plumbing work is charged by time at our standard hourly rate, plus materials, with a one hour minimum and 30 minute increments after that. For larger jobs we can discuss the likely scope in advance. See /our-rates for current rates.
